Your point about waste is one that hits home with all taxpayers. One of the toughest challenges for any administration is to increase efficiency, as those efforts tend to be stopped or changed severely at each administration change.

It makes sense that most people feel that the government should be using our tax dollars to protect us. That's what the original purpose of our government was set up to do. I think that all of the services they provide are important in their own right, but it all depends on how effective the it is run. I get frustrated when I see money being wasted or the benefit from the organization is not worth what we are paying for.

Steffan, seems to me, just a guess... that people see the FCC as a "freedom of speech" impediment. NOT a communication enabler. Too bad for their PR

As individuals do more and take on responsibility the opportunity to reverse the pyramid becomes viable - it's the 'by the people' we're often missing theses days.

That's an interesting observation Steffan, as who would do it otherwise - regulate television, radio and telephone at the city or state level? That would create an interesting communication system.

I'm sure it's just sampling error, but only 30 something percent of the people that have responded to your survey voted for FCC - Are you kidding me?

Just a couple major paradigm changes of policy could solve most of our government's deficit problems. Withdraw from all failed interventionist warfare and military offensives while concentrating on military defense technology within our own borders. Stop wasting trillions of taxpayers money on failed drug eradication programs or "warfare" and focus on controlling the users within our own borders...and I don't mean incarcerate them all. Next...tort law reforms which is legally robbing our country's GNP of almost 1/3 of our production. Put the pyramid right side up with individual rights and responsibility at the core of community instead of Statist solutions.

The topic of responsible spending is a good one, as governments often do the right thing, yet don't do it efficiently. The challenge is to inspire the same attitude that for-profit companies have to keep expenses low and productivity high.

I'm all for more taxation to pay for the services but responsible government spending is needed; use the money to fix domestic problems before going to war. Make all government spending public knowledge. Or make all suppliers for the military government owned, that seems to be where all the money is going! As someone who is living in Sweden I see great strength in nationalized government services, it can be done.
