One of the many blessings that social media provides is the ability to connect with amazing people and their equally amazing causes. For example, I’ve been blessed by having met Beth, who writes the Life on Avenue Z blog. Besides her work in social media and freelance writing, Beth has created a Virtual Food Drive to support those in need this holiday season.
The idea behind the Virtual Food Drive, which began in December of 2008 and resulted in Two Tons of food being donated, is to inspire people to donate canned goods to one of their local food agencies, then return to the website and register their donation.
That’s it! Make the commitment, gather up a few bags of canned goods, find a holiday food drive in your area, drop off the bags, then visit the Virtual Food Drive website and tell the world about your generous gift!
Want to know where to go? Just Google “holiday food drive” with the name of your city or town.
Thanks so much for participating in the 2009 Virtual Food Drive, and don’t forget to spread the word!
As a true Global Patriot, we salute Beth and her desire to put food on every table!
